UX/UI user perception
Creating any type of application requires a thorough analysis of many factors. One of the most important is the final solution’s perception by users – an area that UX/UI designers are responsible for. The work of specialists in this field is crucial for the success and market success of the application. How does it look in practice?
What do UX/UI designers are responsible for?
A UX Designer plays a crucial role in designing applications. It is important for employees in these positions to be in constant contact with the customer from the beginning – this will allow for a full understanding of the needs of both the client and future users of the system. The basic task of UX/UI designers is to design intuitive solutions that are tailored to the expectations of the target group. Responsibilities within this role also include visually presenting technical aspects that developers are responsible for. For this reason, people working in such positions should have excellent sense of aesthetics. But that’s not all – it’s also important to understand how users use various systems.
Preparing an application project by UX/UI designers includes several important stages. The most important are, among others, interviews with the target users of the system and defining their needs. Based on the information obtained at this stage, the so-called user stories are prepared, i.e. descriptions of the processes available in the application from the user’s perspective. In every part of UX/UI design, consultation with both the client and programmers is important. When designers have the necessary information, they can move on to designing the appropriate layout of features, buttons and all visual elements of the application.
Attractive application design and user satisfaction
Even the most advanced application can have a problem with gaining popularity among users if it is not properly designed. That is why the role of UX/UI designers is so important. An intuitive and easy-to-use interface is a key to the application’s success. At the same time, it is also important to ensure that the visual design is attractive and consistent with the expectations of the target group. In this way, users are more likely to be satisfied with the final solution and will be more likely to recommend it to others.”
Smooth operation of the application and clear interface
Transparency is of particular importance in designing applications, especially when it comes to solutions for mobile devices, which require a special approach due to the specific screen proportions. It is important to ensure that all necessary functions are accessible in places that are easily accessible and correspond to the ways of using the application by typical users. In the case of systems intended for smartphones, it is also important to have proper scaling of the interface and to maintain the correct proportions regardless of the precise screen dimensions. This is an issue that is even more important when creating websites and web applications. With this type of solutions, it should be taken into account that they will be used by both smartphone users and users of laptops or personal computers. These are devices with quite large differences in screen proportions, so it will be necessary to ensure that the content is displayed correctly on each of them.
In addition to the presentation and scaling, designers responsible for UX/UI design must also take into account user behavior. This is mainly about certain habits and customs of which most people are not even aware – for example, using the thumb when using a smartphone. In the ideal situation, the final recipient should not have to think at all about where to find a specific function: for this reason, it is also important to adapt to general trends in application design.
The importance and cost of UX/UI design
Functionality is important, but aesthetics cannot be forgotten – this is the approach taken by the Ilare team of specialists. UX/UI designers constantly monitor current market trends, analyzing user behavior and changing needs. A well-prepared UX/UI project is particularly important in terms of:
- usability – thoughtfully designed graphics and appropriate placement of elements
- universality – creating apps that will look good on different devices
- completeness – a full package of functionality
The costs of a UX/UI project for a mobile or web application mainly depend on the scope of the designers’ activities. A large part of the work involves analysis, usability testing, and prototyping. All of this can generate costs – but it’s an investment that should not be skimped on. The right UX can make or break an application’s success.
